Melissa and Doug Piano
A Melissa and Doug piano for toddlers is limited to three models. There are two Melissa and Doug uprights and one "grand." You have to admit that they are cute, and may well interest your toddler in the piano. The psychology of children makes these "pianos" very attractive to the youngest of children.
They are colorful and very child-friendly. It comes with a songbook that is color coded to the keys of the piano. The problem with this is that "color" (red, blue, green) has no relevance at all to music theory. It may get you started, but there's nowhere to go.
Piano Is Easy
We use numbered stickers on the keys, because numbers are instantly understandable for even the youngest kids.
How Will Your Child Play Music On Their Piano?
Color coded keys have nothing to do with future music study, but numbers and math do. Piano By Number is the largest library of songs expressed in numbers anywhere.
So we suggest you get a toy piano and apply the removable, numbered stickers. Then let your child explore thousands of familiar songs using Piano By Number.
Transition To Reading Music
Make an easy transition to reading music with our fun music activity book, I Can Read Music. This fun volume makes starting to read music fun for kids. It reduces the elements of reading music into easily grasped bits, and then makes a game out of reading music.
